J&J Outfitters is a family-owned operation based in Pleasant View Colorado. Pleasant View is located in beautiful southwest Colorado, just North of Cortez. This area is known for it's history, scenery and wildlife.
We offer five day hunts for elk & mule deer in September during the archery season. We also offer five day hunts in October and November during the rifle seasons.
The majority of our hunts are conducted on thousands of acres of private land with the remainder in the San Juan National Forest. Elevation approximately 7,000 feet.
We live and work on the land year-round where the majority of the hunts take place which gives us an intimate knowledge of game movements.
Modern accommodations include a log cabin with solar power, wood stove and hot showers.
Our hunts and accommodations will suit all ages and abilities. Come with friends, family or on your own.
Lodging and meals are provided by J&J Outfitters and is included in the price of the hunt.
The price of the hunt does not include the cost of the hunting licenses. To find more information on drawing process and cost of licenses contact the Colorado Division of Wildlife. <http://wildlife.state.co.us/>
All of the hunts are five days long. Hunters are asked to arrive in the area two days before the hunt starts. The day before the hunt will be spent getting everyone together, getting licenses and last minute necessities, and getting to camp.
The deadline for applications is the first of April of the same year. The drawing takes place in June. We generally have good luck with hunters getting drawn. Before you apply we will be in contact to make sure the applications are filled out correctly.
When we hunt we use permanent stands a lot and we also do some spot and stalk. It depends on the game movements, weather, and the hunters abilities. We use jeeps to get hunters around and to retrieve an
We typically have 2-3 hunters per guide.
The lodging is a log cabin with solar power, running water, two bathrooms with hot showers. There is a wood stove for heat.
There is another cabin used for archery and sometimes for rifle, but just for a night or two at a time. It is not equipped with solar power or running water but it is not too far from the other cabin for showering.
We will field dress, cape and quarter any animals. We will deliver animals to the packing house, from there it is the responsibility of the hunter.
A 50% deposit is due January 15th and the balance is due upon arrival at camp.
Hunters are asked to refrain from consuming any alcoholic beverage while hunting and camping with J&J Outfitters. No alcohol will be allowed at camp.
If you were born after January 1, 1949 you must have a valid hunters safety card.
The elk licenses for archery, 2nd rifle and 3rd rifle are purchased over the counter before or upon arrival in Colorado.
