I have been fortunate enough to hunt with J&J outfitters three times over the years and am currently planning my next trip with my Dad, brother-in-law and cousin. My group and I, who have hunted with J&J, are from Ohio.  I was tasked with doing the research for the group well in advance to try and decide what route to go for an outfitter since we had never hunted outside of the MidWest. I searched high and low all over the state of Colorado and talked to countless outfitters/different units. Ultimately my decision was made when I spoke to a gentleman, who had a successful archery hunt, I met on a plane and handed me Joe Lanier’s card….it wasn’t about the amazing bull elk he harvested that convinced me J&J was the right place…it was the overall experience/integrity of the staff that he spoke of that solidified my decision. Joe Lanier’s group of guides are second to none with their knowledge of the land/herd that make a flat lander feel at ease from the start, their respect for the land/animals and their ability accommodate everyone’s physical capabilities. From stories of a successful hunt around the campfire or eating supper with folks from different areas in the country I have made lasting friendships that continue. The fact that J&J outfitters have an amazing trophy mule deer herd and the sheer elk numbers do not hurt the overall experience either 😊 Our first year out we all (3 of us) successfully harvested Bull elk and Mule deer (mine scoring a whopping 201”) and we have all been successful each year since. When it comes to the Western hunt experience with guides doing everything possible to ensure your success, enjoying a hot shower and home cooked meal. J&J Outfitters is a first class operation that will not disappoint.
